Étude Pilates: Frequently Asked Questions

Everything instructors ask before they start using Étude, answered plainly.

What is Étude?

Étude is a class-building platform for Pilates instructors. You choose a focus, a level and a length, and it builds a safe, smartly sequenced class in seconds, with the spring settings, cues, setups and the faults to watch for already there. You change anything you like, save it, and teach it from your phone. It was built by an instructor, for instructors.

Which apparatus does it cover?

Four: Reformer, Mat, Tower and Chair. The library holds 551 exercises across the four, every one with its setup, cueing, muscles worked, common faults, and prenatal and injury notes.

Is there a free version?

Yes. You can browse the exercise library and build a couple of trial classes on each apparatus for free, no card needed. Pro unlocks unlimited class building, saving your classes, Teach Mode, and client profiles.

What does Pro cost?

$24 per month, or $240 per year, which is two months free. You can cancel any time through your account, and your access continues to the end of the period you have paid for.

Who is Étude for?

Qualified Pilates instructors who want to spend less time planning and more time teaching. It suits new teachers who want a safe, well-sequenced starting point, and experienced teachers who want to plan faster and keep their whole repertoire and client history in one place.

Does it replace my judgement as a teacher?

No, and it is not meant to. Étude gives you a strong, safe starting point and the reference at your fingertips. You are always the instructor: you adjust the spring, change the cue, swap the move, and read the body in front of you. It gives you back the planning time, it does not take over the teaching.

Can I plan for prenatal or injured clients?

Yes. Every exercise carries a prenatal flag and injury notes, and when you generate a class for a prenatal client, the moves that should be avoided are kept out automatically. You keep a profile for each client, with their goals, injuries and progress, so nothing slips through.

Can I cue in my own voice?

Yes. Every exercise comes with bonus cues, and you can save your own cues, in your own words, right on the exercise, so they show up when you teach. There is also a Cueing Toolkit of thirty different ways to cue the reformer, from the Find Your Cue method.
